I Miss My EA is a tender children’s picture book that celebrates the bond between a little girl named Olivia and her Educational Assistant. Inspired by my thirty years of working with children of all abilities, this story honours the courage, kindness, and gentle connections that shape a child’s school journey.
Olivia feels safe, seen, and supported with her EA — someone who understands her needs, listens with patience, and walks beside her each day. But when summer break arrives, she discovers a different kind of challenge: missing someone who helped her feel brave.
Through warm illustrations and heartfelt storytelling, I Miss My EA reminds readers that it’s okay to miss the people who help us grow — and that the love, confidence, and faith they leave with us stays close, even when we’re apart.
Why I Wrote This Book
For over three decades, I have worked with children of all abilities. I’ve witnessed the trust, comfort, and transformation that happen when a child connects deeply with their Educational Assistant. These relationships are sacred — full of patience, laughter, reassurance, and small victories that often go unseen.
I wrote this book to honour every EA and every child whose lives have been changed through that bond. This story is my thank-you to the profession that shaped my heart, and to the countless students who taught me just how powerful kindness can be.
Honouring the quiet heroes who help children thrive.
Woven softly through the story is the reminder that we never walk alone. Even in the moments of missing, God’s presence is near — steady, comforting, and full of grace.
